Udhar you can actually collect

A udhar khata is the oldest credit system in India and the most error-prone: a notebook page that gets smudged, a name half-spelled, and no way to tell who paid and who did not. Pietools keeps the same khata, but it adds up correctly, remembers every entry against a customer's name, and reminds them on WhatsApp without you typing the message. You still decide who to chase and how politely.

Credit sales land in the ledger by themselves

When you mark a bill as credit, the customer's name and the amount are already recorded. No separate notebook entry, which is where the two records usually stop agreeing.

One screen of who owes what

Sorted by amount and by last transaction. A customer who has not visited in months sits at the top, because that is the one worth calling.

A reminder that is already written

Send the balance on WhatsApp with the customer's name and figure filled in. Partial payments work too - the ledger records what came in and what is left.

Settling up without losing the history

Mark a payment and the balance reduces. The old entries stay, so you can still answer "how much did he owe in March?" months later.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Create the customer with a phone number, so reminders can go out on WhatsApp.

  2. Step 2

When a customer pays part and carries the rest, mark the bill as credit instead of cash.

  3. Step 3

Open Udhar to see the balance, and send a reminder to whoever needs one.

Questions people ask

Does the udhar khata work offline?

Yes. The whole ledger is on your device. Reminders need internet because WhatsApp does, but recording and checking balances does not.

What if a customer changes their phone number?

The balance stays with the customer record, so you can edit the number and the ledger keeps working. You can also merge two customers if someone gets it wrong twice.

Can a customer see their own khata?

Not in this build. The reminder message shows the balance; sharing a read-only view for the customer is on the list.

Is the customer data encrypted?

Yes. Everything is encrypted on your device with AES-256 under a PIN only you know, and cloud backups hold ciphertext that we cannot read.
